Combustion chamber casing analysis


GES conducted an analysis of a combustion chamber using the finite-element method - for MAN Diesel&Turbo, one of the leading corporations delivering solutions for gas turbines.

The thermal analysis was conducted both for steady and transient state conditions. The results of the thermal analysis were used as input data for a structural analysis.

The structure and the materials used were optimised on the basis of the results. Another benefit of the analysis was that it enabled us to suggest design changes to ensure the right number of cycles in the combustion chamber where the shear stress in screws resulting from a difference in temperatures
